Springfield - Home of bad web design
On top of that, all of these sites have far too many ads! Why do people want their websites to look like NASCAR vehicles?

- ky3.com - This site is simply painful to look at. It makes my eyes bleed.
- news-leader.com - Their goal is to squeeze as much crap and advertising in one page as they possible can.
- bestof417.com - Is this a joke? Seriously. WTF?
- kolr10.com - The best way to cheapen your website is to cram as many hideous ads on the main page as possible.
- 417today.com - Yea! Another bland, pointless, cookie-cutter postnuke website! They even managed to remove all the postnuke credits and promote their site like they actually developed it themselves! At least they're trendy. I should rename my blog to 417jipsta.com.
- thexdegree.com - I saved the
bestworst for last. The X Degree is a site my ex-coworker created to contend with myspace, thefacebook, xanga, and the rest. His site manages to break EVERY web design rule in the book. He actually quit his decent full-time job to pursue promoting thexdegree.com full time.

thexdegree.com really is horrible looking, it looks like a rainbow on eXtacy
If you look at the source code, he has a ton of javascript just for a countdown to reveil the site on 4/1/06, good use of resources considering the code will never be used again

I'm not a graphic designer, but I know awful when I see it.
So is your ex-coworker actually making money off that mess?

I don't understand how you can say that theXdegree is one of the worst sites. I have just looked at the x degree. From what I have found thexdegree.com is a very professional looking site compared to the likes of myspace, facebook, and even zanga. I'm sure your friend is probably doing rather well from the looks of things. Honestly if I could make something look that good I would peruse it too. Myspace is a mess, and probably one of the worst coded sites on the planet! Besides this fact it is very difficult to read most of the profiles on Myspace, and it is also almost impossible to login between 3-9 PM. I don't even try. I think your friends biggest concern is making sure that when he sells the site he gets what it is truly worth.

IRT: news-leader.com. They obviously designed a site around either your browser's Find feature, or a google search with site:news-leader.com. My head hurts.

Greetings!
www.417today.com is part of the Today Pages, LLC network of classified ad sites. It does not run postnuke, at least since it has been part of this company.
You still may not like the web design, but that is not its purpose. It is simply a place to post classfied ads, but I think the design is much better than Craig's List (IMHO).
Thanks and have a wonderful day,
Dan

I thought I would bring some light on the person giving these reviews. (I only speak for their review of one site, the others I am personally unaware of the full details) First of all I know both of the creators of thexdegree.com. The co-founder that left your company (a company that is less-than-stellar), is now working for a Fortune 500 company. From my understanding, they created the site to be successful as well as a learning experience, not to oust Myspace/facebook/ect... I agree that Springfield needs to work on web design, but… maybe the person giving reviews should give accurate information, and have some credibility in the field of web design.
